Off color kid's author alert - John DeChancie

Christian parents, I don't recommend trusting books by John DeChancie. For parents interested in keeping an eye on their kids' reading material, I thought I'd share my discovery of numerous off-color references in this author's teen/pre-teen sci-fi novels. It is sad that an author whose target audience is kids would write trash like this.

I randomly flip through books my kids get at the library, and just happened to pick up one of the three books by John DeChancie that ended up in our book basket this week. It was "The Kruton Interface." The others were "Bride of the Castle" and "Castle Dreams." (I found out that there is a whole "Castle" series.) Fortunately, yesterday was library day, so none of the books had been read yet.

There were numerous sexual innuendos, from the bold to the more subtle. Character names were clearly sexually suggestive, situations and descriptions were carefully written to bring sexual imagery to mind, and there were numerous instances of language I certainly don't allow my kids to use (including the f-word).
